A Esperança: Reading and Writing for and by Women at Cape Verd Islands, 1901
This article is focused on the role of the journal A Esperança, published as literary supplement of the Almanach Luso-Africano, as a place for reading and writing for and by women. At that time, female writing and publishing at the Cape Verde Islands already had decade-long tradition, above all in journals and almanacs. This historical development is retraced in the contribution.
